Auriferous
Happy Wednesday! I really enjoyed learning about auriferous, its history from Latin and how the word has evolved since the time when Latin was an alive language. Merriam-Webster’s dictionary describes auriferous in etymological terms as aurum “containing gold” and the ferre (to produce or to bare) when you combine those two together plus a few centuries of evolution we get auriferous. My definition of auriferous is an adjective, containing gold, yielding gold, and has traces of gold.
Today’s word has gold in it! Really it does! Who wants some gold?
Example:
During the archeological dig, the archeologists and geologists found many auriferous objects, metals, and even human teeth.
